Luis Nishizawa is a Mexican painter who is
know for his work of landscape and murals of the Mexican countryside. Coming
from a Japanese mother and Mexican father, Luis
Luis uses many techniques for
his work. Some of his preferred work was done in ink. His paintings reflect
nature in it’s most sublime state and the human figure. Luis’ artwork clearly
reflects his the scenery from his childhood in Mexico.
In addition to painting
murals, Luis also created murals with ceramics and other materials. His works
depicts the Valle of Mexico, Morelos, Guanajuato, Puebla, and the State of
Mexico. Some of his most famous paintings are Paisaje: Valle de México (1947),
Paisaje de Yagul (1976) and Pátzcuaro (1960) where the blending of this Mexican
and Japanese heritage and training are evident.

Nishizawa’s work is displayed at the Centro
Cultural Mexiquensein Toluca, the Museo de Bellas Artes in
Toluca, the Instituto
Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura, the Museo de la Estampa and the Museo Carrillo
Gil, the Engraving Museum
in Bulgaria, the
Culture Museum in Yokohama, the Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto, the Shinanu Museum in Nagano. His
works are also in private collections in Mexico, Japan and the United States.
