Jack Simantob

Jack Simantob (far left) is a recognized rugmaker with a certain style that sets him apart from the rest. Originally from Iran, Jack Simantob migrated to the U.S. and studied antique rugs before he began creating them.

Mr. Simantob has a very particular technique that he exercises on his rugs. What set Jack apart was his belief that rugs should be made as naturally as possible with the least amount of chemicals or any other method, which might damage the wool. Jack currently has 230 looms at his business and cannot meet demand so his rugs are very high-priced.
That approach is exorbitant due to how expensive it must be to keep numbers of large rugs for months while they age. Mr. Simantob keeps his ‘natural aging’ a process a secret to distinguish himself and his technique from the other rugs makers. Jack Simantob artistry and technique bring a lot of richness to a craft that has been executed for thousands of years.
