Patrick Brown

As an Australian resident his entire life, Patrick Brown began drawing at the age of five. During college he began creating digital art in Photoshop inspired by games, movies, and TV. Patrick states simply, "If I like something I draw it." Now as a graphic designer, he strives to create artwork full of energy, maintaining a modern comic art feel. While many may proclaim him as a fan artist, he simply uses popular culture as a reason to draw and hone his skills. He actively engages with his followers by posting podcasts, artwork tutorials, and sketches on his website.

Desktop publishing has had a huge impact in the artistic realm, and Patrick has employed many sources of electronic hardware and programs to create his work, particularly his tablet. Digital art can be purely computer generated or created from other sources such as a scanned photograph or an image drawn with vector graphics software. Using a computer during the bulk of the creation process allows for new techniques and easier sharing and editing. The general acceptance of the value of digital art has progressed in much the same way as the increased acceptance of electronically produced music in recent decades.

Patrick has been featured online through many different websites over the years, such as kotaku.com.au, austrailianedge.net, and rockstargames.com along with many Facebook features through IO Interactive, Rockstar Games, and Naughty Dog. In 2012, he had his own book published by Mad Artist Publishing called The Art of Patrick Brown. You can see more artwork at patrickbrownart.com.
